Gene is best known as a long time member of the South Carolina based Bluegrass ensemble, Split Rail.  While he works regularly in that ensemble, the need to play and offer music outside that genre has long been a goal.   He has been performing since his college days at Mars Hill College.  Yes, that long!

Gene is also available as a solo act featuring a mixture of folk oriented, acoustic music.  The above description “A little americana, a little folk, eclectic, a lot of fun!” is a very accurate description of what you get with Gene.  His set list will pull 60’s folk, Gordon Lightfoot (one of Gene’s favorite artist),  James Taylor, The Beatles, the Eagles, Marty Robbins, Crosby-Stills-Nash & Young to local favorites such as Michael Reno Harrell.

Many of the solo shows get an added extra as Mark Shook (Weaverville, NC) joins on stage as "A Shook & a Crook".  Mark adds great guitar, harmony and lead vocals

The guys are equally at home in front of an interactive audience or providing background for those wanting to enjoy music with dinner.  His goal to ensure that your patrons are glad that they came and looking forward to their next trip!
